A freelance writer/photographer and railroad enthusiast who is also a former editor of Pacific Railnews and the author of The American Steam Locomotive, Solomon presents an illustrated history of steam railroads in the United States and Canada. He surveys the beginnings of railroads in North America, how they became the dominant mode of transportation, and how they went into decline after World War II, focusing much of his book on the development and operation of various steam and early diesel engine types. While his discussions of steam and early diesel are the strength of the book, Solomon also briefly touches on electrification, stations, and trolleys and interurban systems. A final chapter includes information on various current preservation efforts and museums that document the history of railroading. About the Author

Charles W. Lamb, Jr., served as chair of the department of marketing at the M. J. Neeley School of Business from 1982 to 1988 and again from 1997 to 2003. He is currently chair of the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management and is a former president of the Academy of Marketing Science and the Southwestern Marketing Association. Lamb has authored or co-authored more than a dozen books and anthologies on marketing topics and over 150 articles that have appeared in academic journals and conference proceedings. In 1997, he was awarded the prestigious Chancellor's Award for Distinguished Research and Creative Activity at TCU. This is the highest honor that the university bestows on its faculty. Other key honors he has received include the M. J. Neeley School of Business Research Award and selection as a Distinguished Fellow of the Academy of Marketing Science and Fellow of the Southwestern Marketing Association.

This book is useless if you need the access code to do the homework online with mindtap. The title is not only misleading but down right fraudulent as it says it right in the title that you get 6 months access and was the reason I bought this particular one. I have reported this to amazon

I was a bit concerned at first because all the reviews regarding the access code that the description says it includes, stated that they either didn't even get an access code, or they got a used one. For my class, we need the access code. I just received my book today with the access code unused. To verify it was unused I logged into Cengage and was able to register the code. The book itself is in very good condition, looks brand new. Also pretty awesome that I was able to save $31.

The format of this "textbook" is unlike any I have ever used. It is absolutely readable and not your typical dry textbook. You can actually read this one because of the way it is formatted and the way the information is presented. I wish more texbooks were formatted like this. You will see once you crack into it. It was also pretty interesting and I have since decided to take more marketing classes as my free electives. This is also among the more affordable textbooks.

I took an online marketing class and this was the text book, I only used the book itself, not the online access since our professor didn't set that up. It would be nice if the online activities were available without a professor setting up a class. The book does a good job of presenting marketing topics though some of it is repetitive.

Concise presentation of marketing principals in plain English. The text made up for an ignorant, semi-literate instructor. I cannot endorse this book strongly enough.

This was purchased because I needed it for school purposes, but I mean it was cheaper than buying it from the school's bookstore.

This is an update of one my students use for a class. I liked the updates, so the class is switching to this one.

This was the book I needed at a competitive price. Item received as described and shipped fast. The book itself (content) is not the best but it gives a decent overview of the topics and is not too difficult to read.
