I can't even begin to address the power of this book. I also purchased Dr Tony Evans book Kingdom Marriage. The two books go hand in hand (no pun intended). I was 2 weeks from finalizing my divorce with my wife, NO JOKE. The combination of the truth that I was able to pull from these two books really helped set me in a different mind set. If you are struggling in your marriage with your wife, these books are fantastic for the man to work on his end. if you have a wonderful marriage already, I don't see how reading these books won't help you have an even more amazing relationship. Oh and these books finally answer the age old statement that most of us have absolutely no idea what it means... to love your wife as Jesus Loves the church. The understanding you will get from that statement will set your marriage on a whole new level. I intend on reading and re-reading these books for years to come. I am so thankful to have heard about these books on Christian radio in my car. The timing was impeccable... as God's timing always is! Oh and you should know that a week later, after reaching back out to my wife, I called my attorney and cancelled my divorce proceedings and began working on building up my marriage.

When this book first arrived, I thought, 'You've got to be kidding me." It is a small skinny book & I felt like there has got to be more! As I started reading it, I was astonished at the gold nuggets this tiny book has. My husband read the " For Married Men Only" book & was also amused at the gold nuggets that he had found also. I would recommend all married couples or those who plan to get married, to read these two books. Thank you Tony Evans for sharing the knowledge you have gained from God. Simply put....Awesome read!!!

My pastor wife recommened this book and "For Married Women" My husband read this book in one night. The next morning my husband and i had a wonderful discussion about both books. We like the fact that the author referenced bible verses and stories. These books are helping us to properly line correctly under God. I definitely see a change in myself and my husband of 16 years.

Item don't arrive with initial package but Amazon fixed quickly and sent it. This book is short to the point, great insight for marriage-(from what little I read, it's a gift) and great for younger couples with the Marriage Matters book and wife's addition as a whole set. I also recommend Kingdom Woman and Kingdom Man with this set.

These are Tony Evans' devotions; however, this is NOT Tony Evans speaking on the CD. The man that actually does the talking is monotoned and slow and sounds nothing like TE. I wish I had known that before I made the purchase, but my husband loves the CD.

I've read other books by Tony Evans and this by far is such a good read considering how short it is. Evans paints a picture of married men loving their wives like Christ in three different ways. Read to find out. Also, the book is so good I plan on purchasing it for one of my uncles.

Decent read; I prefer to be more spiritual than religious but this comes off as very traditional, which may be positive/negative depending on what you bring to your reading.

Is your marriage suffering? Than this is a must listen to. Is your marriage good? Then make it even better and listen to what Tony Evans says and follow. After 14 months of going through hell with my wife leaving me that I "did" deserve and do not wish it on anyone, I got her back but the work has begone. If I had of listened to this before I hope I would have followed the way and would not have suffered in the heart wrenching 14 month experience I went through. Need I say anymore.

About the Author

Mark Griffith is a professor of classics and of theater, dance, and performance studies at the University of California, Berkeley. He lives in Albany, CA.  Trained at Cambridge, Griffith is an enormously accomplished expert on the Greek Tragedies. Glenn W. Most studied at Harvard, Oxford, and Yale and is currently professor of ancient Greek at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, and a visiting member of the Committe on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.  He divides his time between Pisa, Florence, and Chicago. Richmond Lattimore (1906–1984) was a poet, translator, and longtime professor of Greek at Bryn Mawr College. David Grene (1913–2002) taught classics for many years at the University of Chicago. He was a founding member of the Committee on Social Thought.

This is the first book in a series of books that introduce the reader to the Greek tragedies. This book contains four plays by Aeschylus.I enjoyed reading the plays and did not have a hard time at all understanding them. The introduction in the beginning of the book really helps by giving the background story of Aeschylus and a small rundown on the plays he wrote as well as who he competed against in playwright contests, and if he won the contest or not. That at least puts the plays into some sort of historical context.The plays themselves are translated directly from Greek manuscripts, with no modern English thrown in to make it easier to read for the lay person, so if you are not familiar with this style of writing, it may be challenging to read for some. It is translated in similar fashion to Richmond Lattimore's versions of the Iliad and the Odyssey, so if you can read and understand those, you shouldn't have an issue reading these plays (Richmond did some of the translating on these plays).On a higher level, due to the content of the plays and their context, it also sheds some light on what life was like for the ancient Greeks, and what their concerns were for the day.I really enjoyed this book and plan on acquiring the other books in the series. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in studying the ancient Greeks and wants a little more than just information about them than just what can be found in a Greek Mythology 101 book or someone who wants to expand out beyond reading the Iliad and the Odyssey.

This is a different edition of a great translation.
