Have people not been able to find this book? That's the only the reason I can think of for me to have the honor of a first review.This book I would describe as being along the lines of high / epic fantasy with a m/m (and more possibly?) romantic theme. The book is told from the point of view of the main character (Faust) although there are a few snippets here and there that seem to be from the perspective of a secondary character. It is a lengthy book (which I always find to be rewarding especially with fantasy books of such caliber) and how many more books Faust's journey will span I do not know. It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger and I am going to be going out of my mind until the next installment is out in 2019 (according the author at the end of the book). Do I regret reading this now knowing that I'm going to be in for a wait? Absolutely not. This book will be on my mind for days.Legacy had everything I could hope for in a m/m fantasy book. An individual with a destiny greater than he could ever know, his journey to realizing this and forging bonds with allies, friends and lovers. While the author mentions that it contains "dark" themes I would classify them as just being adult versus young adult. There are battles, there is death, there is sex (not overly so - a few scenes to make you warm and appreciate the bond between the characters without getting overly descriptive), there is imprisonment/light torture, etc. I hadn't anticipated reading this in one sitting but, six hours later, here I am (thank goodness it's the weekend).The world building was done very well. Sometimes with epic fantasy I can get lost in how "big" the world is and how many characters come into play and the roles they have. This world wasn't "too big" and the amount of characters introduced was manageable and their personalities descriptive enough so that I could keep track and remember (and enjoy) them.If there were any errors in the text, I didn't notice. It was fast paced, never a moment for my interest to waver. While I read this with my Kindle Unlimited account, I plan on actually purchasing it. If anything so that I am able to read it again and again without having to borrow it over and over.A truly great read. Sigh...such a great read. I can't wait for the next one(s).
Fair warning: I didn’t finish this book, so I can’t speak to the plot. The exposition at the beginning was clumsy and the writing just left me cold, so I didn’t have any interest in reading further. It was hard to distinguish who the characters were and who bore what relation to the other. There seemed to be a multitude of kings, a couple gods, plus various nobles and functionaries, all of whom got name-dropped pretty fast. The proofreading was poor. I only got to chapter five before I lost interest. The writing just didn’t catch my attention fast enough.
This book had a lot of action. One thing I think this book really needs is a glossary. A lot of terms were introduced in the book with very little explanation. Also, there were so many characters to keep track of. I'm still a little lost to be honest. So, in the next book, please include a glossary.
This is fantasy at it's finest. This series is amazing. The characters so intricate, the world is complex. This story is page turning. If it weren't for having to go to work I'd have finished this story sooner. #teamignasandfaust
I loved this book, and can't wait for the next one. The one small issue I had was trying to remember who was who in the very beginning, but that sorted itself out. Overall it was a very creative and fun read. I was sad when I reached the end of this book because I didn't want it to end.
This was some amazing sword and sorcery fantasy. It had an amazing cast of characters, an engaging storyline, and top notch world building. I cannot wait to read the next book in Faust's adventure.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the sequel. While I loved the story and characters, it did feel at times like I was a little lost. I think a glossary and character index would've helped more than once.Otherwise, pretty great!
