I have really been looking forward to getting my copy of this cookbook. Mine showed up yesterday and I spent part of the evening reading through it and marking the recipes I wanted to try. The first 90 pages of the book are the educational part. The author covers everything from her personal journey, her food and lifestyle recommendations, details on cleansing in general and how to do a soup cleanse, to lists (with description) of all the ingredients used in her recipes and the equipment she feels is important to make good soups. The ingredients range from stuff you can find anywhere, to things I will pick up for not too much money on Amazon (like black lava salt), to things I have never been able to find. Most of the recipes I feel will be doable for me based on my budget and my shopping habits.First let me mention I will not be following an actual cleanse. I have recently (using proper nutrition) managed to mostly solve more than a year of completely awful IBS. I feel pretty cleansed already ;) That being said I wholeheartedly believe in the healing properties of broths and soups, especially ones like these with lots of herbs and spices.This morning I stopped by the local healthy food store and picked up everything I needed to make my first two Soupelina soups; Easy Peas-y and the Magic Tumeric Broth. My favorite was the easy peasy, the flavors of coconut oil, peas and mint were amazing together. I ate two bowls and I wasn't even very hungry. The turmeric broth was good too. I either used too much coconut oil (I'm not much of an exact measurements kind of girl) or the recipe calls for more than is really needed. Next time I will start with one tablespoon and then add more if needed. The book didn't specify what to do with the garlic so I just smashed the cloves and threw them in. The first day I though it needed more garlic but when I gave it a couple days in the fridge before drinking it again it's even better, tons of flavor. I dropped off a jar of the turmeric broth at a girlfriend's house who has been sick off and on for weeks. She just sent me a text saying she loved it and it made her feel a little better too.When these soups are eaten up (probably pretty soon!) I will try another pair. I like the suggested idea to make some soups on the weekend and then eat them all week. In the FAQ's she says you can make all your cooked soups for a 5 day cleanse the day before you start, but that the raw soups should be eaten the same day.The only things I would add/change are very minor but I'll just mention them here. For helpful equipment I would add an electric boiling kettle. I don't like adding cold water to my hot pots when I make soup. Sometimes the instructions and ingredients list omit some details. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to use dried or frozen peas in the easy peasy soup (I used frozen, it was fine). I would also suggest a change to the Miso recipe. If you want to keep the friendly probiotics in miso paste alive you need to add it to your individual bowl after you serve it rather than allow it to simmer for a few minutes.

I have been looking forward to this book for a long time. We used to order Soupelina's soups in Los Angeles - the thai one is a particular amazing - and since we have moved to the East Coast haven't had a whole lot of finding anything similar, or replicating it. This is going to be great! After a trip to Wegmans I have my first batch going right now and can't wait to try it. I have also just informed my husband that we are going to do a proper soup cleanse... Start the New Year off right!***Edit*** I am now three days into the cleanse. At first I wasn't very sure that it would work - I was full - but other than my husband commenting a couple of times 'this could do with chicken in it' (before he ate it all happily), neither of us have found it difficult and they have all been yummy. We have both dropped weight, but more importantly there are cookies sitting on my desk and I haven't really been tempted by them. Maybe my body is resetting itself a little healthier.

Souper book! Contrary to some reviewers, I enjoyed the non-recipe chapters of the book. I've made 3 of the soups (not doing the cleanse yet) and have loved every one! We've been plant based for 8 months...so reviewers who noted prep time may not have been previously? I find the prep and cooking time comparable to those of my other favorite cookbooks and recipes. The soups aren't "watery" they are delicious!!! Can't wait to keep cooking through them! Some ingredients are hard to find organic/non GMO where I am, so I'd love suggestions for where folks order online. For folks who question the "science" behind plant based...visit nutritionfacts.org and/or read Greger's book or The China StudyThank you Elina! Love your book!Update: I'm cooking my way through this book...aside from about 4 recipes that I just won't make bc I don't care for the main ingredient. These recipes are great. It's my favorite cookbook. I do make ahead and freeze, because my husband and I don't get home until almost 9. Still looking for kaffir lime leaves and now Thai basil (grew my own and am now out). Advice appreciated!

First off, her soup titles just get you going. "I'll Be Bok, Choy!"' "the Truffle with Asparagus", what is not to love? She has great information at the beginning, but what I love the most is that all of her recipes are simple and easy to prepare. And so healthy, to boot. A lovely and amusing book (laughter, after all, is the best medicine).

This book is amazing. A must for anyone who wishes to heal themselves from the inside out. Some recipes are fairly simple and some are more complex. I feel so good eating the broths and soups. I use them for daily eating, not just as a cleanse. Highly recommend.

This book is fantastic. I had ordered a Soupelina cleanse delivery first for one day only as I wanted to see if the cleanse is going to be an easy process. After consuming only soups for the whole day, they left me quite satisfied and not hungry. So, I decided to purchase a book. The recipes are very detailed and quick in preparation. I easily went through the 5 days cleanse (with the only one modification – I had a green smoothie from spinach/lettuce/apple for breakfast instead of soup). Most of my friends and co-workers started complimenting me on the glowing facial skin that I can only credit the Soupelina cleanse for. I would like to incorporate the 5 days Soupelina cleanse into my monthly routine.

Have to say this a very cool book. Those who know me well know I love my meat and potatoes meals however, I have to say I have tried a few of these soups and they are awesome! My absolute favorite is I can't believe it's butternut or Sweet coconut Thai oh my. I would recommend everyone to try these soups. If you happen to live in the Los Angeles area you can order and have delivered to work or home! Perfect for lunch or dinner for the busy professional! This book is a great addition to your kitchen.
